ABANDONED RACE WILL NOT BE RESCHEDULED
The 2016 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship will now be contested over one less race than originally planned.
A torrential downpour from a thunderstorm on 12th June caused the abandonment of the final race at Silverstone, as large parts of the circuit were left under water.
That round, the 15th of the 24-round season was hoped to be re-scheduled to enable the full complement of events to take place.
Unfortunately with that not possible all drivers will be adjudged to have scored zero points for that race, satisfying the regulations which state “a driver must count their scores from all the races in the Championship.”
Carlin’s Ricky Collard leads the standings with a four point advantage over Brazilian Matheus Leist, with Australian Thomas Randle 19 points back.
The series heads to Snetterton for its penultimate meeting on 6th/7th August before the finale at Donington in September.
